Fox Galleries is proud to present Call and Response, a group exhibition running from January 30 to February 16, 2025.
Inspired by the musical compositional technique of the same name, Call and Response, involves one musician offering a phrase, to which another replies with a direct reaction. Similarly, an audience responds to visual art in a semiotic way and artists that exhibit together can respond to works of their own creation or another artist’s creation with artworks imbued with an implicit commentary.
The exhibition will feature our long-standing represented artists, such as Murray Walker, Esther Erlich, Al Poulet, Jo Darvall, Peter Thomas, Nigel Sense, Joanna Gambotto and Victor Rubin as well as artists who will be exhibiting with Fox Galleries for the first time in 2025. Each artist has embraced the theme uniquely, creating works that explore dialogue, tension, and harmony.
Whether responding to the natural world, personal memories, or the works of their peers, the exhibition becomes a rich conversation where every piece offers an invitation and an answer. This expansive exhibition will span both gallery spaces of 63 and 67 Wellington Street.
