Joanna Gambotto

Biography

Joanna Gambotto is best known for her vibrant still life and interior scenes. Through her expressive brushstrokes and rich use of colour, Joanna paints everyday life that balances between reality and fantasy. Joanna pushes the boundaries of composition which creates a setting that feels familiar but also obscure.

Born in Poland, Joanna relocated to Australia and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School in 2013. Since graduating, Joanna has been working as a full-time artist in Sydney. Gambotto is proficient in a variety of mediums including drawing, print-making, and painting. Gambotto has held numerous solo exhibitions, several artist residencies, and her talents have been recognised with prizes including ‘The People’s Choice Award’, at the ‘Dobell Drawing Prize 2021′.

Fox Galleries is delighted to welcome Joanna Gambotto as our first artist in residence for 2024. View more details about her upcoming residency here.
